Community Engagement & Education Committee
Focus:
- This committee is responsible for developing strategies that increase input from communities impacted by HIV/AIDS to the HPPC and HIV prevention Section. In addition, the committee focuses on ensuring that community members are informed about HPPC activities. Methods can include holding Council meetings in San Francisco neighborhoods, inviting prevention programs/researchers and others to present to the HPPC, organizing public forums on issues in HIV prevention, and distributing information to communities. Develop specific scope of work for 2010 with objectives to address the following:
- Provide input into the development of the HIV Prevention Plan trainings along with the Health Education team.
- Collaborate with HIV Prevention Section on the dissemination of Plan.
- Work with HPS to plan education to community on the HIV Prevention Priorities for San Francisco.
- Work with HIV Prevention Section to organize community forums on innovative and cutting edge issues (PrEp, CVL, etc.)
- Collaborate with Membership to inform community of the work of the HPPC, Membership recruitment, etc.
- Work closely with HPS to ensure that HPPC members and community are informed of upcoming HIV related forums, community meetings, conferences, etc.
- Work closely with Steering to follow-up on action items, issues of concern in community.
