Community Planning

HIV Prevention Planning Council

The HIV Prevention Planning Council (HPPC) is the group that guides HIV prevention in San Francisco, along with the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH). Members of the HPPC are from local communities and government, and reflect San Francisco's diverse population.

The HPPC is responsible for deciding which populations are in greatest need of HIV prevention services, as well as deciding what are the best ways to meet those needs. The SFDPH, in turn, is responsible for funding programs and services that match the HPPC's decisions.

The HPPC works closely with the HIV Services Planning Council (CARE Council), which is repsonsible for overseeing the prioritization and allocation of Ryan White CARE Act Title I and II funds for San Francisco, San Mateo, and Marin Counties.

San Francisco 2010 HIV Prevention Plan

The 2010 San Francisco HIV Prevention Plan was developed by the HPPC in partnership with the San Francisco Department of Public Health AIDS Office and lays out the framework for HIV prevention in San Francisco for the next five years (2010-2014).
